Description:

Zirconium dioxide (ZrO2), sometimes known as zirconia (not to be confused with zircon), is a white crystalline oxide of zirconium. Its most naturally occurring form, with a monoclinic crystalline structure, is the mineral baddeleyite. A dopant stabilized cubic structured zirconia, cubic zirconia, is synthesized in various colours for use as a gemstone and a diamond stimulant

Uses:

The main use of zirconia is in the production of hard ceramics, such as in dentistry,[9] with other uses including as a protective coating on particles of titanium dioxide pigments,[2] as a refractory material, in insulation, abrasives and enamels.

Zirconium Oxide Powder is used in oxygen sensors and fuel cell membranes because it has the ability to allow oxygen ions to move freely through the crystal structure at high temperatures. This high ionic conductivity (and a low electronic conductivity) makes it one of the most useful electroceramics.[2] Zirconium dioxide is also used as the solid electrolyte in electrochromic devices.

Zirconia is a precursor to the electroceramic lead zirconate titanate (PZT), which is a high-K dielectric, which is found in myriad components.

Storage Conditions:

Airtight sealed, avoid light, and keep dry at room temperature.

FAQs

Q1: What is Zirconium Oxide Powder and what are its primary applications?

Zirconium Oxide Powder, also known as zirconia (ZrO₂) powder, is a high-performance ceramic material used in a wide range of industries. Its key applications include advanced ceramics, refractories, dental ceramics, catalysts, thermal barrier coatings, fuel cells, and wear-resistant parts because of its exceptional mechanical strength and thermal stability.

Q2: What are the key properties of Zirconium Oxide Powder?

Zirconium Oxide Powder exhibits high fracture toughness, excellent thermal shock resistance, low thermal conductivity, and strong chemical stability. These properties make it ideal for structural ceramics, high-temperature components, coatings, and biomedical applications where durability and reliability are essential.

Q3: Is Zirconium Oxide Powder suitable for advanced ceramics and coating applications?

Yes, Zirconium Oxide Powder is widely used in advanced ceramic manufacturing, thermal barrier coatings, and wear-resistant surfaces. Its uniform particle size and high purity contribute to consistent sintering, good densification, and reliable performance in final ceramic products.

Q4: What particle sizes and purity levels are available for Zirconium Oxide Powder?

Zirconium Oxide Powder is available in multiple particle size ranges and purity grades to meet varied manufacturing, research, and industrial requirements. Typical sizes support ceramics processing, coatings, additive manufacturing, and functional materials research. Custom particle size distributions can be provided based on specific application needs.

Q5: How should Zirconium Oxide Powder be stored and handled?

Zirconium Oxide Powder should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-sealed environment, protected from moisture and contamination. Proper storage and handling help preserve its chemical stability, particle integrity, and performance characteristics over time.
