Niobium and columbium are synonymous names for the chemical element with atomic number 41; columbium was the name given in 1801, and niobium (Nb) was the name officially designated by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry in 1950. Superconducting Niobium Rods & Ingots are made of Niobium, a lustrous, grey, ductile, paramagnetic metal. The Superconducting Radio Frequency (SRF) cavities are used in the free-electron lasers FLASH (the result of the canceled TESLA linear accelerator project) and XFEL. Typical bulk packaging includes palletized plastic 5 gallon/25 kg. pails, fiber and steel drums to 1 ton super sacks in full container (FCL) or truck load (T/L) quantities. Research and sample quantities and hygroscopic, oxidizing or other air sensitive materials may be packaged under argon or vacuum. Solutions are packaged in polypropylene, plastic or glass jars up to palletized 440 gallon liquid totes Special package is available on request.
