Product Information
Bismuth is a chemical element with the symbol Bi and atomic number 83. It is a post-transition metal and one of the tobacco-causing compounds, chemically similar to its lighter Group 15 brothers arsenic and antimony. The element bismuth occurs naturally, and its sulfide and oxide forms are important commercial ores. The density of this free element is 86% that of lead. It is a fragile metal that is silvery white when freshly produced.
Bismuth is used with other metals such as iron to make metal alloys. These alloys are used in fire sprinkler systems. It makes up the largest part (50%) of Ross metal, a fusible alloy that also contains 25-28% lead and 22-25% tin. It was also used to make the bismuth bronze used in the Bronze Age, which is found in Inca knives at Machu Picchu.
Bismuth has few commercial uses, and uses that use bismuth typically require smaller quantities compared to other raw materials. In the United States, for example, 733 tons of bismuth were consumed in 2016, of which 70% was used in chemicals (including pharmaceuticals, pigments, and cosmetics) and 11% in bismuth alloys.
Nanochemazone is a professional supplier of silver-bismuth alloys, and we also produce discs, balls, ingots, balls, flakes, powders, rods, wires, sputtering targets, and many other forms and custom shapes. Other shapes are available upon request.
Packing of Silver Bismuth Alloy
Standard Packing:
Typical bulk packaging includes palletized plastic 5 gallon/25 kg. pails, fiber and steel drums to 1 ton super sacks in full container (FCL) or truck load (T/L) quantities. Research and sample quantities and hygroscopic, oxidizing or other air sensitive materials may be packaged under argon or vacuum. Solutions are packaged in polypropylene, plastic or glass jars up to palletized 440 gallon liquid totes Special package is available on request.
Nanochemazone Silver Bismuth Alloy is carefully handled to minimize damage during storage and transportation and to preserve the quality of our products in their original condition.
Silver Bismuth Alloy is generally immediately available in most volumes. Nanochemazone produces many standard grades when applicable, including Mil Spec (military grade); ACS, Reagent and Technical Grade; Food, Agricultural, and Pharmaceutical Grade; Optical Grade, USP and EP/BP (European Pharmacopoeia/British Pharmacopoeia) and follows applicable ASTM testing standards. Typical and custom packaging is available. Additional technical, research, and safety (MSDS) information are available, as is a Reference Calculator for converting relevant units of measurement.
